18. Time For Bed

What an incredible day, we learned, we cried

I laughed, you sighed, you flew, I tried

And how great it was to enjoy the outside

The bees, the cats, the trees, the sky

I think now it’s time to close our eyes

The sun has gone low, but my excitement, too high

How can I sleep when great things I could miss?

I know I will dream, but how can a dream be better than this?

My insides are still racing and ready to go

But if I stay up too long they'll eventually slow

And then tomorrow will be a little slower than today

And on and on and on in that way

Until one day I grow to be old and cranky

So by getting sleep now, the old me will thank me

Because sleep gives me the chance to make tomorrow better than today

Even though I don’t believe it now, it’s possible anyway
