7. A Veggie Is ...

So I’ll tell you the truth and believe you me

A veggie’s not an it, it’s a they, you’ll see

A legume is one different name a veggie can assume

And two main ways to consume is with a fork or spoon

Cooked by sauté, steam or stir-fry

Are three ways to prepare, just watch out for the onions, they can make you cry

Yellow, blue, orange, and green

Are the two + two = four color varieties in which veggies can be seen

Diced, cubed, shredded, minced or chopped

Use a knife to fit these five cuts into the pot

Roots, stems, seeds, buds, leaves, but not sticks

Are the six main pieces of the plant from which the veggies are picked

So take all these variations and mix them up as ingredients in different ways

And veggies will always keep you strong and healthy with seven main nutrients in many different things, like calcium, iron, potassium, and vitamins C, B6, A, and K

Just remember if you ate eight vegetables you didn’t like way back when
