At this point now they made it to the nest
Dexter’s arrogance left him and he was feeling depressed
All that work to make it out alive
And the canary could take it, with only one dive
So he thought and he thought how he would get out of this mess
His calculations in his notebook just resulted in stress
He didn't want to guess so he reassessed
And he thought if they were friends, the canary wouldn’t digest
So he asked, " Mr. Canary, would you like to be my friend?"
He said “sure, but your attitude must change because it did offend.
Just because you were the first to make it out of the pile
It doesn’t give you the right to treat others hostile”
“Ok, I will change; I don’t know what came over me
I just couldn’t believe I was finally free
Free to make friends with things other than worms”
And he looked gently at the canary for him to confirm
“You know canaries and worms aren’t supposed to be mates
But if we decide to be friends then no one can debate
I learned a good lesson from this exact affair
And I’ll tell you the story of what I saw, when I was up in the air”
